Homeowners in Bay Area Houston Concerned about rising home insurance.

Your input to this hearing is needed! The Texas House State Affairs Committee will meet on Sept 17, 2024 at 9:00 AM in Austin to address the following:
Economic Challenges Impacting Insurance Premiums: Examine the impact of current economic challenges on the escalating costs of insurance premiums, including factors contributing to the withdrawal of insurance providers from certain markets. Investigate solutions to help Texans more easily and affordably obtain property and casualty insurance coverage. Evaluate long-term strategies for shifting from state-funded insurance programs to sustainable private market alternatives.

Fill out the top form then scroll down and select “Economic challenges impacting insurance premiums”. You are limited to 3000 characters. You can also email the clerk Margaux Fox at margaux.fox_hc@house.texas.gov
Details will come later. Here are some tips on what you should include in your comments to the committees:
• The area of the state you live in such as coastal counties
• What you are currently paying for insurance
• The costs of any new policies or bids
• Your Deductibles in dollars
• Any claims you have had
• Cost of repairs
• If your current company will not renew your policy
• Keep it short and with a statement of “Our premiums are too high. Our deductible are out the roof. This is not sustainable”.
• Stay non confrontational. Refrain from “I’m going to vote you out if you don’t do something” type of comments
• Demand that they take action
Contact our Elected officials!
Clear Lake’s State Representative Dennis Paul (512) 463-0734 has been on the House Insurance Committee for many years. You should contact his office and demand action on the insurance crisis in our area. The best way to contact Paul is via his staff. Greg Bentch works the insurance committee. Send a quick email to Greg.Bentch@house.texas.gov I suggest you include the following:
• State that you are a constituent
• Name, Address, phone number
• Any specific information about the cost of insurance
• Demand action
Also contact our Senator Mayes Middleton (512) 463-0111. He is on the Business and Commerce Committee. The Committee has been charged with addressing the rising cost of insurance. Sen
